What is neurodivergence?

Neurodivergence refers to variations in the human brain regarding sociability, learning, attention, mood, and other mental functions. It is an umbrella term that includes conditions such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, Tourette syndrome, and others. These conditions are characterized by developmental differences that can lead to diverse ways of thinking and behaving. The concept of neurodivergence is a part of the broader neurodiversity movement, which advocates for viewing these differences as natural variations of the human brain rather than as deficits. This perspective promotes the idea of accepting and appreciating the diverse range of neurological experiences as a vital part of human diversity.
