We continue to live through challenging times as the effects of the pandemic and the resulting lockdowns has meant we have all had to make adjustments in our life. The loss of loved ones, social i<\/span>solation and changes of circumstances has\u00a0<\/span>dramatically worsened many people\u2019s mental heath and emotional wellbeing.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Additionally,\u00a0<\/span>changes in the workplace<\/span>\u00a0has affected us all. Many people are working from home, isolated from colleagues and struggling to balance work and home schooling. The pan<\/span>demic has also caused significant strain and stress on those that are working frontline jobs. This has impacted a lot of people’s wellbeing at work whether that is due to stress, burnout or uncertainty.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We all experience different responses to change and difficult situations.\u00a0<\/span>However, i<\/span>t’s good to\u00a0<\/span>be aware of\u00a0<\/span>typical\u00a0<\/span>signs that a colleague\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0struggling and needs support.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

If you’re worried about a colleague’s wellbeing then ask how they are doing more than once. This allows them to give a more thoughtful answer and provide a clearer insight into how they are feeling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Sighing can be a physical reaction<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to regulate breathing during times of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>stress and anxiety. It is often a non-verbal sign of feelings of upset and distress. If you notice that a person is withdrawing from any work tasks or activities, then it could be a sign that they are struggling. Mood changes, anxiety and restless sleep are all causes of poor memory.
